Happy Gardening!

THANK YOU Portland Woman Magazine and Marie Sherlock, Editor, for a beautiful feature on the Virtues Connection Portland… in the March/April 2011 edition.  (see page 28: The Examined Life)   http://www.portland-woman.com/issues/march11/index.html

In the past couple of weeks, I heard the analogy of watering the bamboo — as you keep watering for a long time, without much visible growth—Then, after months and months, once the plant is ready to grow, there is no stopping it!

I feel like I have been planting seeds and nurturing many seedlings and watering the roots of the VP in Portland/ Beaverton/Hillsboro, Oregon for many years… and the bamboo shoots are growing taller now!

What a great feeling as we approach our NW warmer and sunnier Spring Season!

Joyfully Yours,

Delaram Hakiman-Adyani

Patience

Virtue of the Month: Patience!

I remember one of the very first Virtues Songs I tried to learn was about Patience: Patience is waiting, without complaining; it is enduring a delay with calm and a peaceful heart… I have read and memorized most of the Virtues Affirmations, but i tell you that patience has been one of my most cherished virtues.  Thanks to Linda Kavelin Popov and to  Jennifer Russell for making my ride to school more enjoyable!

The Practice of Patience: ( virtues reflection cards)

“I am hopeful and expectant.

I do not rush.

I am gentle with myself and others when we make mistakes.

I accept things I can not control with humor and grace.

I am confident that my life is unfolding as it should.

I live fully in the present moment. ”
